Pop-up Pavilion by BOWOOSS Research Project
A cocoon-like temporary summer pavilion in Saarbrücken, Germany, is the result of a research project on biomimicry conducted at the city’s architecture school. Biomimicry, a design approach that takes nature as its guiding principle, is the specialism of Professor Göran Pohl, who headed the BOWOOSS research project.
The Swing Pavilion: Lombok International Bamboo Architectural Festival. Highly expressive bamboo pavilion that use traditional bamboo craftsmanship as a construction method. Its geometry is based on the “Enneper Surface”, a double-curved surface that originates in the fields of algebraic geometry. The double-curved surface operates as grid-shell that uses the bending properties of bamboo for its strength. http://www.l-e-a-d.pro/projects/swing-pavilion/3054#sthash.Aq2Jf5rk.dpuf
