Great Japanese—and for breakfast, no less—might be the last cuisine you would expect in Berlin. Behind an unmarked door in Mitte, a staircase framed with potted greenery leads to the light-filled, atrium-style café serving matcha cappuccinos and an all-day brunch. (The Okinawan taco rice may sound strange, but the ground pork, chopped vegetables, and fried egg over rice makes for a perfectly satisfying meal.) A more formal sister restaurant, Zenkichi, recently opened next door.
