Ornamental Grass Is a Low-Maintenance, Drought-Resistant Plant Wonder
Scott Lewis designed the gardens of this Napa Valley home, which are planted with a huge variety of ornamental grasses. The grass in the top photo is Bouteloua gracilis 'Blonde Ambition': Gardenista has a full list of all the cultivars in the bottom photo.
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' - Feather Reed Grass
'Karl Foerster' - Feather Reed Grass(Calamagrostis x acutiflora ) 4-5' x 24" wide. *2001 Perennial Plant of the Year.* Drought tolerant and tolerating a wide range of garden soils. It has a wonderful upright growth habit, making it very useful to place behind perennials with a spreading or rounded shape. The feathery plumes emerge in early summer and ripen to handsome wheat-colored seed heads by fall. Combine w/ Russian Sage. In groups of three or five for best effect. Zones 5-9.
