Her name was Jane Reece (1868-1961) and she was thirty-nine when she took the photograph at right that she called The Poinsettia Girl. A pictorialist photographer and possibly the first female professional photographer in the nation, Reece lived for most of her life in her native Ohio, although she spent some time in New York City, where she knew Alfred Stieglitz.
