Nightingale pattern by Vintage Purls

Nightingale is a toe-up, stranded colour work sock that uses just two yarns; one variegated and one almost solid. Pick two colours that contrast well with each other for maximum effect.

Isn´t it magic to knit a pattern and another one appears inside? MAGIC BRIOCHE is another version of my WheatAndChuff pattern with small adaptations, but it´s fully reversible too. Magic Brioche

Isn´t it magic to knit a pattern and another one appears inside? MAGIC BRIOCHE is another version of my WheatAndChuff pattern with small adaptations, but it´s fully reversible too. It´s so exciting to make little unventions in brioche knitting. To be honest with you I prefer the pattern inside - therefore you have to use the light color as the contrasting color (CC) - if you go for the “cabled” pattern use the light colored yarn as main color (MC).

Knit 2 mittens of different colors, stitch together at openings and fold one inside the other. (Maybe make inside mitten a little smaller than outside one.) I have this pattern and loved making these mittens. ...ciate it much. This time I did a two-color cast on and did a two color braid. Much prettier. If you want to do a two color braid, make sure to do the two-color cast on, which will be your “set up” row. It’s worth it. Make sure you’ve knitted a large enough mitten to accomodate the lining, especially if you’re using something like...

Midwinter Neckwarmer

Das Strickmuster für den Midwinter Neckwarmer (Mittwinter Halswärmer) gibt es jetzt auch auf Deutsch.

I like the idea of a winter hoop that's just some cute mittens. You could run in any direction with it, mittened hands, mittens that depict a winter scene like these, mittens that just look awesome, anything really. Deep in the Forest Mittens pattern by Tuulia Salmela

I find stranded colorwork fascinating, and wanted to give a pair of stranded mittens a little twist with an asymmetrical, unconventional design. I used two colors for this, but the design is suitable for variegated and semisolid yarns as well (especially for the background).

Weizen pattern by Katrin Schubert

WEIZEN is the German word for wheat. Do you remember the WHEATandCHAFF cowl, which I designed last year? Surprisingly it had only one (1!) pattern round, considering that straight brioche knitting isn´t a pattern… WEIZEN hat is just another one-round-wonder. That´s so much fun!

The Dale yarn used in the sample - Cotinga, a merino / alpaca blend - is no longer available. Substitute with any similar soft, smooth, worsted weight yarn with a ball band gauge around 18 stitches over 4” 10cm. (Of course, you’ll knit your hat at the pattern’s gauge.) You’ll want 3 different-colored, 50g balls.
