My Amelanchier x grandiflora or Serviceberry is in bloom today. It is a native small multi stemmed tree with four season interest. It flowers in Spring, has small edible berries in June that attract birds, orange/scarlet fall color and silver bark in winter. After ten years it is about 15’ tall and wide. It pairs well with Aronia arbutifolia or Red Chokeberry which has the same shape and four season interest in a smaller size and with persistent red berries in winter instead of June.
