Annie Oakley was born on August 13, 1860. She was named Phoebe Ann by her mother, but called Annie by her sisters. She was the toast of Victorian London, New York, and Paris. She was "adopted" by Indian chief Sitting Bull, charmed the Prince of Prussia, and entertained the likes of Oscar Wilde and Queen Victoria. Annie Oakley excelled in a man's world by doing what she loved, and won fame and fortune as the little lady from Ohio who never missed a shot.

Born Phoebe Ann Mosey, and far better know as Annie Oakley, was called “Watanya Cicilla” by Sitting Bull, a fellow performer in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. That name became “Little Sure Shot” in the public advertisements.

Annie Oakley (August 13, 1860 – November 3, 1926) was an American sharpshooter and exhibition shooter. Oakley's amazing talent and timely rise to fame led to a starring role in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, which propelled her to become the first American female superstar. Oakley's most famous trick is being able to repeatedly split a playing card, edge-on, and put several more holes in it before it could touch the ground, while using a .22 at 90 feet. Annie Oakley was an Ohio-born lady who could shoot like the dickens. She was the first white woman hired by a Wild West outfit to fill a traditionally male role.

When I first heard Elvis' voice, I just knew I wasn't going to work for anybody, and nobody was going to be my boss. He is the deity supreme of rock and roll religion as it exists in today's form. Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail. I thank God for Elvis Presley. --Bob Dylan
