This is a sculpture of Julius Caesar (100-44 BC), a prominent figure in the disintegration of the Republic. He became sole-ruler of Rome during a time when Rome had abandoned the idea of Kings and Monarchies and created the idea of a Republic where there is no such thing as a sole-ruler. Because of his defiance he was assassinated by conspirators.
