The Moors murders were carried out by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley between 1963 and 1965, in England. The victims were five children aged between 10 and 17. At least four of whom were sexually assaulted. Two of the victims were discovered in graves dug on Saddleworth Moor, with a third grave also being discovered there in 1987, over 20 years after Brady and Hindley's trial in 1966. The body of a 4th victim is also suspected to be buried there, but despite repeated searches it remains…

6 May – The Moors Murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley are sentenced to life imprisonment for three child murders committed between November 1963 and October 1965. Brady is guilty of all three murders and receives three concurrent terms of life imprisonment, while Hindley is found guilty of two murder charges and an accessory charge which receives two concurrent life sentences alongside a seven-year fixed term.

She and Ian Brady were responsible for the kidnapping, torture, sexual abuse and murder of two teenagers and three children aged ten and twelve.
