Morgan horse - is one of the earliest horse breeds developed in the US. Tracing back to the stallion Figure, later named Justin Morgan after his best-known owner. They were usually cavalry horses during the American Cival War, on both sides of the conflict. The Morgan is a compact, refined breed, generally bay, black, or chestnut in color and variations of Pinto. In 1907 the US Dept of Agriculture established the Morgan Horse Farm in Middlebury, Vermont to improve the breed.
