Our phrase for the month is "Letter-sound knowledge." This is a term from literacy research but in Montessori-speak we mean knowing the sounds that each letter/phonogram makes. We teach this via one key material: the sandpaper letters. If you'd like more details on this presentation, you can read our blog post at Maitri Learning.com. We hope this helps! 🤗
Thank you Martha for taking the time to post this! The Phonogram Dictionaries were on our to do list for way too long too! The Phonogram Dictionary is THE reference for the key spelling variations in English. Once the child knows all of the key sounds (green sandpaper letters) and begins asking for accurate spellings, introduce the dictionary. You can read all about the dictionary, the phonogram folders, and the whole Dwyer system at MaitriLearning.com. Have a great weekend! 🤗
