We chose it because with the bed in the lofted position (it can also be on the ground) it wasn’t too high for him and it would give him some valuable play space below. Toddler bunk beds the top bed is from ikea I think is as big as a toddler bed or a little bit longer, I might just try this idea since my 3 year old dies for a bunk bed and this bed is not as high as a regular bunk bed,Genius!
