Japanese Kaleidoscope Quilt class

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking part in a Japanese Kaleidoscope Quilt class with internationally renowned quilter/textile artist Jan Preston. It was arranged by Leanne of Kimono House (ther…

Lace Hexi's

Oh no......not another hexagon quilt!!

Alas....yes another hexagon quilt!! I thought that I had put my hexagon templates away for a while but it seems I am in need of them once more. This time though, it is not to 'whip' up a fabulous 'quilt-as-you-go' hexagon quilt for me, but for a dear friend's 50th birthday. I love hexagon quilts. I love how the shape is repeated over and over again, the juxtaposition of each shape forming a beautiful tessellated pattern which fits neatly into each other without any overlapping. I love the…

Retrospective

This is retro in more ways than one..I've had this fabric for years and years. I think it's early 60s and was in my scraps box. I almost used it as brooch backing fabric. But then I examined the pattern and voila ! Can you spot it? So my old style brooches and old style fabric have combined. Here they are uncluttered by fabric backgrounds. Just three at the moment but altogether there are a dozen made now. And here's a size guide. Small and cute. Going into my etsy shop soon. If you came…

Little zipper fish!!

The fish were fun to make, I think I'll offer them in sets of three in my Etsy shop. The fish are about 1 1/2 inches long.

New leaf brooches...

I used the small zipper circles to wrap the felt beads for the extra detail in each of the new pieces.

New leaf brooches

Trying out some new designs.. I think I like the combo of the embroidery and zipper inlay best of all.

Calm After The Holidaze - Gift Exchange - Page 4

No Longer Taking Any Players Soon a lot of us will be in the middle of the holiday chaos of gift giving... We will buy or make the best gifts...wrap them ever so perfectly...and watch our loved ones tear into them in 2 seconds flat! After all of the excitement is over...we will all go back to work...or our visitors will have gone home...and we will be left with that lull after new years... Why not have a little ray of gifty sunshiney-ness?! A sweet lil something to look forward to?

My Light collection is all about light and Love .This art doll Brooch is embroidered and each is a unique piece of wearable art that will give your cloth or bag a special touch! In the back I have draw her face, and she is with her eyes closed. because she is making a wish ( but only you know) ;) I have made this piece with lots of love :) It…

Embroidery Inspiration – Brooches

I was so disappointed to find that this Embroidered Pinterest image didn’t have a tutorial. I was able to track it down to this blog though. I love the free motion embroidery on this project …
