The Lagoon Nebula ~ captured in all its psychedelic glory by the Gemini Observatory in Hawaii. An all-time favorite of sky-watchers on both hemispheres, the Lagoon Nebula (Messier 8, or M8) is among the most striking examples of a stellar nursery in our neighborhood of the Milky Way galaxy. Located in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius in the southern Milky Way and visible in telescopes and binoculars its fuzzy glow reveals the type of chaotic environment where new stars are…

The #CarinaNebula - The hypergiant star Eta Carinae glows against the background of swirling clouds of dust and gases that form the Carina Nebula. The Carina Nebula is one of the largest diffuse nebulae—meaning that it has no well-defined boundaries—in our skies and is about four times as large as the famed Orion Nebula. The Rosette Nebula is a large, circular H II region located on the edge of a giant molecular cloud in the constellation Monoceros the Unicorn, located in the band of the Milky Way. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebula, under the stars in the cluster have formed the subject of it.
