Chandelier, Palais Garnier Opera House, Paris, France (1964) designed by Charles Garnier, model by Jules Corboz, and cast and chased by Lacarière, Delatour & Cie - This is the 7 ton bronze and crystal chandelier that terrorizes the audience in Gaston Leroux's 1910 The Phantom of the Opera. On May 20, 1896, one of the chandelier's counterweights broke free, burst through the ceiling into the auditorium, killing a concierge.

Chandelier, Opera Garnier

Not the Phantom's chandelier, but still mighty impressive. Chagall's ceiling is gorgeous.

Ceiling, Palais Garnier Opera House, Paris, France (1964) by Marc Chagall - created on removable frames, each frame vividly portrays scenes from operas by 14 composers, including Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven.
