MANSFIELD (WENY) - Click to see the WENY news story: Only three university geography departments throughout the United States are creating three dimensional topographic maps, and Mansfield University is one of them. By altering a map taken from the Geographic Information System, the Mansfield Geography Department is able to create a 3D topographic map by simply hitting print.
March 2015: Mansfield's Joe Bell and Charles Pemberton Named to All-PSAC East Honors MANSFIELD – Mansfield's Joe Bell earned All-PSAC East honors for a rare fourth straight season while teammate Charles Pemberton was named to 2nd Team All-PSAC East honors in voting conducted among the PSAC head coaches. The 2014-15 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Teams were released today by the conference office in Lock Haven.
Mansfield University has been designated a “TopPrint School” by Military Advanced Education (MAE) in the magazine’s 2015 Guide to Colleges & Universities. The guide measures best practices in military and veteran education. MAE’s Guide to Colleges & Universities presents the results of a questionnaire of the military-supportive policies enacted at more than 600 institutions.
5 MU students, accompanied by Professor Sue Young, chair of the Department of Communication, traveled to New York City in November to volunteer at the Center for Hearing and Communication’s (CHC) annual “Feast” fundraiser gala. Nicky DeAngelis (Selinsgrove), Trevor Clark (Emporium), Tyanna Roberts (Bensalem), Laura Young (Wellsboro), Samantha Young (Wellsboro) and Professor Young worked greeting guests and escorting them into the event.
Mary Daly, assistant professor of Social and interim director of the Social Work Program at Mansfield University, has been awarded the national Phi Alpha Honor Society Advisor of the Year Award. Presented at the annual program meeting of the Council on Social Work Education held in Tampa, FL, the award honors one outstanding chapter advisor each year. In her nomination, MU student Sarah Rava wrote of Daly’s commitment to students and her encouragement to chapter members.
Representative Matt Baker has been awarded the first Mansfield University Presidential Medal for Excellence. MU President Fran Hendricks made the presentation during an informal ceremony on Thursday, October 23 at the Rotary Club meeting in Wellsboro. The coin was developed by Hendricks and designed by MU Publications Director Andy Worthington. The coin bears several symbols representing historical highlights and other aspects of the university that make it distinctive.
Aug 2014, MU News: Chapter of the Year. Congratulations to the Gamma Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda. They received the AKL Founder's award and Chapter of the Year, for outstanding performance in all categories. Consideration of rush, financial management, campus leadership, scholarship and community service are but a few of the areas examined in determining the recipient.
May 2014: PSAC East Player of the Year Kate Pratt added another accolade to her long list of accomplishments, being selected to 1st Team Daktronics All-Atlantic Region honors at utility/pitcher. It marks the third time in her career that Pratt has been selected to Daktronics All-Region. Just as dominate at the plate, Pratt hit .343 and led the team in runs (33), doubles (15), home runs (9) and RBIs (31). Pratt slugged .657 and posted a .408 on base percentage.
MANSFIELD, Pa. Three hundred and eighty six students received degrees at Mansfield University’s 149th Commencement on May 10, 2014. “Class of 2014, this is your day,” MU President Fran Hendricks told the graduates. “Today is the culmination and recognition of your hard work. As of this day, your life will be changed forever. Today, you are receiving more than a degree in your chosen field of study. Today you are receiving a key to the door of opportunity.”

Three Mansfield University Biology majors made presentations at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania University Biologists. Rachael Tylock (Penfield, NY) earned a first place award. Bill Coolbaugh (Sylvania, PA) also presented. Katey Kohanski (Madison Township, PA) presented in the Cellular/Molecular category. March 2014, College Roundup: Mansfield University senior Mike Robinson has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. It marks the third time a Mansfield male athlete has received the conference’s top track award. Chris Cummings was the first, getting it after the 2007-08 season, followed by Justen Johnson in 2011-12.
