'Unseen Versailles' shot winter 1979 / 1980 during restorations--statues were wrapped or de-mounted and grand salons abandoned under a coat of dust--commissioned Jackie Onassis, editor at DoubleDay Publishing. "I wanted her to conjure up what went on there, to evoke the feeling that there were ghosts and memories."
