Back in the studio again after four days away to Visby helping my oldest doughter to move in to what used to be my Mothers flat. Hectic days filled with packing moving boxes throwing away things fixing things buying things. Today she got yes from an job application! Yay! Yellow tulips for mom. It's been a year since my mother Ursula died. A year ago my siblings and I said goodbye to our mother who was pronounced dead in the afternoon at Visby Hospital after having had two cerebral haemorrhages within a day. She was not conscious when we arrived at the hospital but I still think she felt our presence. When I kissed her forehead one last time she was still warm. Glazing day. A lot of new work both in form and colour combos. First task is to wax the bottoms and on some of them the black decorations. And why do l wax you may ask? Well for many years l thought waxing things were a waste of time. But with the black clay l changed my mind. Most glazes dont marry well with the black clay. So on some l wax the decorations so glaze will not stick on them. I also find it beautiful to have the unglazed and it gives the pot a very nice tactile experience as well. Well for many years l thought waxing things were a waste of time. But with the black clay l changed my mind. Most glazes dont marry well with the black clay. So on some l wax the decorations so glaze will not stick on them. I also find it beautiful to have the unglazed and it gives the pot a very nice tactile experience as well.
