Notes on Working From the Bottom of Your Work when using the Mammen stitch (1 on thumb, 2 behind), since it has unexpected stitch effect Amy suspects is because of the uneven picks and how she solved it. A sock laid out flat could of course work too for size reference, but cardboard or other stiff paper/material gives one the advantage of needlebinding around it. Grey wool and Korgen stitch. Perhaps the most common way of needlebinding a sweater.. start at the bottom hem, continue up to armpit level and create two loops, one at each side that will serve as sleeve loops. Then continue upwards with cowl area, shape by doing decreases either slanted or straight up in vertical line, possibly also at the very sides depending on fit/design. Lastly, finish the sleeves.
