The Crooked Forest in West Pomerania, Poland - the reason that the trees are bent is due to a very slow process called creep. Creep is where the top layer of soil slowly moves downslope throughout a freezing and thawing process over time, causing the trees to curve because the roots are embedded in the second and third layers of soil that don't move.
