Gown fragment * mordant painted and dyed chintz 1760-1790 India for export to West Cotton, mordant painted and dyed  Rectangular panel, once a woman's skirt, mordant painted and dyed in an undulating floral design, bordered along one side (hem of skirt, but selvage of original piece) with 8" width of two rows of undulating flowers and outside line of red and blue. Colors are blue, reds, lavender, green, yellow with dark brown thin vines, all on white ground.
