.When I see authors who complain that bloggers are wannabe writers I wonder - why do they think there's such a distinct line between reader/writer.  Most people are some combination there-of because both come from the love of stories.

You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write.

Read your work aloud! When you read aloud you find out how much can be cut, how much is unnecessary. You hear how the story flows. And nothing teaches you as much about writing dialogue as listening to it.

Exercise the writing muscle every day. Even if it's a letter, or word, notes, a title, without the exercise the muscles seize up.
