In 1885 Mary Tape sued the San Francisco School District to offer public education to all Chinese children

Fred Morris, Ed Lacey, Maurice Luftspring and George Mutcheon read a copy of "The Maple Leaf", printed at the Caron printing works, Rue Demolombe, Caen, for troops of the Canadian army serving in France. It was printed once a week and was the broad equivelent of the US "Stars and Stripes". The soldiers appear to be members of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division. The soldier on his knees appears to be a motorcyclist judging by his boots and trousers.
