Naevus (1980 c. by Mr. Prospector out of Mudville, by Bold Lad), was a Grade 1-placed winner and the sire of nearly 30 stakes winners. The cleverly named horse ("Naevus" being a Latin word which means birthmark) with the large white spot on his side, won his first start at Del Mar at two, reappeared in January of his three year old season with a win at Santa Anita, then ran second or third in four straight graded stakes, including the 1983 Santa Anita Derby (Gr 1) for trainer John Fulton.

Naevus, sire of Airdrie Apache. Although he does have an irregular body spot, it seems more likely that Apache inherited his coloring from his dam.
