A finely made silver labbeh necklace from Yemen or Saudi Arabia. It is made of a lower silver content alloy which is below .600 silver content, probably .400-.500. I feel it shows the beauty that is achieved in humbler materials. The labbeh was worn in at least four ways by Muslims and Jews in Yemen and Saudi Arabia: as a necklace, on top of the head, as a chin-chain attached to a headdress, and as a veil. Early 20th century.
