This tail number was named Hell’s Angels after the 1930 Howard Hughes movie about World War I fighter pilots. Assigned to the Bombardment Squadron of the Bombardment Group

B-17 Nose Art. I love this plane. Got to fly in it from Ankeny Ia. to Sioux City a few years ago. The pilot was a B17 pilot in WWll and retired from flying the next year. Awesome experience!

"Nine O Nine"B-17G-30-BO Flying Fortresss/n 42-31909323rd Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force.Pictured with one of her many crews, she flew 140 combat missions  between March 1944 and April 1945. She was returned to the U.S. after  the end of hostilities and was, sadly, sent ot the scrappers at  Kingman,AZ.She is showing 71 missions.
