Sergeant Patrick Carroll, 1st Battalion, Rifle Brigade. He wears both the Crimea and the 1853 Kaffir medal.  On returning from the Crimea, the 1st Battalion were reviewed by Queen Victoria who addressed them personally on the 8th July 1856. The regiment were awarded eight Victoria Crosses during the Crimean War, more than any other regiment.
