I love the way that their relationship was depicted. Eomer defending her, his cry as she lay on the Pelennor Fields, his expression as Aragorn heals her.It is evident that they are close, especially after they became orphans.

I love how there is no reason at all why Merry and Pippin should join the fellowship, but they just did anyway.
