The "Ole Bull" Stradivari 1687    This violin was made by Antonio Stradivari in Cremona, Italy in 1687 and is currently housed at the Smithsonian Museum of American History as part of the Axelrod Stradivarius quartet.  It is named after its 19th century owner, Ole Bull, a Norwegian violinist and composer. Only 11 ornamented Stradivarius instruments survived today and this violin is one of them.
