A PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE OF A KNEELING CAMEL China, Tang dynasty (618-906). Width 24.5 cm. Pottery tomb figure depicting a camel kneeling on its anterior legs. The realistically depicted animal stretches its long neck forward, on its back between the two humps one can see bags with a load. Over the figure's entire surface, traces of the red and brown polychrome can be seen. This is a typical tomb figure from the Tang dynasty (618-907).
