Bask.....He was one of the greats in Arabian bloodlines......

Bask - I love this picture, probably my favorite of Bask, it shows the expressive personality he probably had. My Bask bred horses have it in spades!

Andrew K. Steen Imagin (Image x Rafina by *Raffles) foaled 1950, bred by Roger Selby was one of the senior sires at the Steen Arabian Horse Ranch. Between 1955 and 1963 he was one of the most successful show horses in America.

Marwari stallion by Manu Sharma. Marwari comes from Marwar region, India. It's supposed to be an old breed together with its probable ancestor Kathiawari. There are 4000 years old paintings with curved-eared horses. Once the Marwari was very priced animal in India and also British army used it as a cavalry mount. When Brits left India and cavalry was considered old-fashioned, lots of Marwaris were lost. Luckily some families continued breeding and the breed is now saved.

Once put to stud, Raffles went on to have a tremendous influence on Arabian horse breeding in the US, siring 122 foals. In addition to horses he produced by outcrossing on Arabians of other bloodlines, breeders also had very good results by linebreeding his offspring to those of Raseyn, another Skowronek son who had also been purchased from Lady Wentworth and was imported to the USA by W.K. Many of the horses I had the good fortune to befriend in Walnut Creek--and the first Arab mare I owned--were grand-get of this famous Crabbet stallion, Serafix.

Serafix (Raktha x Serafina) A 1949 Crabbet Arabian stallion who was imported to the U. from Crabbet Park Stud. He was a great sire and left a considerable mark on Arabian breeding.
