GENT'S BLACK WOOL TAILCOAT and TROUSERS, 1830-1840 Double breasted coat with "M" notched lapels, owner's name "Coleman" stenciled on tag inside back. Chest 38, shoulder 15 1/2, sleeve 26, length 36. Scattered moth damage on back, good. Fully lined high waist fly front trousers with six brass and one japanned button, six bone suspender buttons. Waist 32, inseam 25 1/2, length 41. Three small moth holes, back waist reduced, otherwise excellent.
1870 Frock Coat Culture: American Medium: wool Man’s frock coat and vest of forest green ribbed wool. Coat double breasted fitted to waist, full skirt, piped with black braid. Vest single breasted with shawl collar.
