Inselberg (ou monadnock) de Shiprock, Nouveau Mexique. Relief (colline ou un petit massif) isolé qui domine significativement une plaine ou un plateau. Shiprock signifie en navajo« rocher ailé » et celui ci domine à 550 mètres. Il constitue un site sacré pour les Indiens Navajos. Ces derniers l'assimilent à un oiseau géant qui transforme en pierre leurs ennemis.
