The first cloche hat, Caroline Reboux in 1908. The "Queen of the Milliners", Reboux opened her shop in Paris in 1865. She loved simplicity and working with pliable felt. She created a hat by placing the felt on a customer's head which was then cut and folded into shape. The cloche was popular from the 1920s into the early 30s and Reboux was also the first to add veils to hats in 1920s. This image is a Reboux ad from 1922, illustrated by Helen Dryden.
