+++ As many of you know, this past September I went on a three week adventure to Scandinavia. One of the highlights of my trip was seeing the surface design

Josef Frank found inspiration for the pattern Hawai at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. There he found a remarkable collection of “Trees of Life” from the north side of the Indian peninsula. This pattern, with its intertwined stems, bears similarities to these trees. Hawai was designed during the years 1943-45 and is one of Frank’s largest patterns with a repeat of 180 cm.

Svenskt Tenn’s textiles are well known for their design and colourful prints. Josef Frank designed about 200 prints for textiles, wallpaper and carpets.
