Sitting in front of the station - which still had an agent as evidenced by the order hoops on the left.  Alvin is about 25 miles south of Houston and 20 miles from Galveston.  Built in 1951 when Santa Fe still had some steam left - I wonder which steam engine was sent to the scrap yard with the delivery of this unit?
