Château de Compiègne, France: the royal residence was built in the 14th century as the area was a favorite summer residence for the Kings of France. Major renovations began in 1751 and were completed in 1788. It was the autumn residence for Napoleon III during the Second Empire. It is now a museum.

Chateau Compiegne, was one of the three seats of the French Government. Served as an autumn residence of Napoleon III and his empress, Eugenie.
