As a man his career ranged from effective administration and successful military campaigns to manic bouts of terrible brutality and slaughter. He ended his life hiding away from the world, deep in paranoia and despair.

Ivan IV (v1) (1530-1584) - The 1st crowned “Tsar” of Russia,he ruled from age 17 until his death. Although intelligent, able, and a natural leader, Ivan’s was a complex, extreme personality, at times close to insanity, his life filled with tragedy. Killed his son with his staff.

On his thirteenth birthday, Ivan asserted his independence from the boyars. He ordered his huntsman to deliver his hated cousin, Andrew Shuiski, to a pack of starving dogs. Shuiski's corpse was devoured in Moscow's public square.

Philippe d'Orléans (Philippe Charles; 2 August 1674 – 2 December 1723) was a member of the royal family of France and served as Regent of the Kingdom from 1715 to 1723. Born at his father's palace at Saint-Cloud, he was known from birth under the title of Duke of Chartres.
