Lot 39.  Princess Diana wore this Catherine Walker design on an official visit to India in 1992. This long black silk-crepe evening dress with an empire-style bodice was embroidered with diamanté paste. Ms. Walker tried to incorporate an Indian influence for the bodice decoration. The gown was purchased by the Kate McEnroe, the head of American Movie Classics and raised $ 42,550 for Diana's charities.  One of my favourites!

dia ~ very similar makeup and hairstyle (accurately accenting her outfit) ~ very subtly representing our generation, (very very) mature, very balanced, first era classic (older noble 'sub' section), prim, regal, very traditional, very fashionable (haute couture), flattering, very subtly solidly elegant, grand and timeless (one of the most fashionable royals in her section)

Diana loved the saphhire and pearl choker necklace! It goes very well indeed with the white Catherine Walker gown with the seed pearls (I suspect it was designed to go with the choker).
