Their efforts, which connected the western United States to the eastern United States, laid the foundation for the extraordinary economic prosperity enjoyed by the United States in the years that followed.

This is the Chinese immigrant helping with construction of the railroad. He is one of many people that moved here for work. After the work was completed they stuck around and decided to call America home.

The first wave of chinese immigrants to Canada and the US came during the 1850s, whom most were from the Taishanese speaking areas of Taishan, Kaiping, Xinhui, Enping, Heshan and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province. Many came to set up businesses or were in search for Gold during the Gold Rush in California (US) and then later in the Yukon (Canada).
