"Rare Civil War Period Antique Blouse with Balloon Sleeves . What can I say... Such a Rare a wonderful piece. This one has been in my collection for years. At one point I was going to take out all the pin tucks and open her up a bit, but I can't bring myself to mess around with such a Rare find. I have gone over this piece with a fine tooth comb. The Silk Net Lace is strong and soft and it is Entirely Hand Stitched. The waist band is breaking down and there are no closures. I find one tiny hole
A lovely soft muslin blouse with a square neckline and side front opening which fastens with hidden hooks and eyes. It has an gently elasticated waist and the lower peplum skirt of the blouse is covered in meandering mercerised cotton hand embroidery. The blouse is evocative of the costume that Lara the heroine of Doctor Zhivago might have worn, it has a quiet understated beauty all of its own. It is in excellent antique condition. From our Curator's Collection This is an antique Edwardian white blouse with pin tuck detailing. The delicate sheer cotton top features emboss embroidered flowers and lace accented sleeves. It has a button closures and hook closure at the neck. CONDITION In good condition for age. There is a small hole on the right side and on two on the right sleeve, a small old repair stitch on the left shoulder and bottom front, and it is missing the original hook closure at neck. "This is a beautiful, antique blouse. The fabric is very fine, lightweight, cotton voile. Excellent condition, for age. There are a couple tiny spots, see close ups, a few tiny holes, and a couple of tiny repairs at lower back. Wearable! But small. The back closes with real, mother of pearl buttons.
