This picture looks for all intents and purposes to show a very young German soldier machine-gunning a group of old ladies. That guess is based mostly on the smoke coming from the soldier's gun. In addition, noting the position of the person at far left with her head raised as if hit from behind, as well as the lady in the foreground with head bowed and foot positioned as if falling, I'd guess that there were other shooters outside of the frame.
