Heuchera
ANGELICA EBONY SUPERIOR
By far the darkest of the Angelica's we have trialed here, this perennial forms a rosette of near black delicately divided foliage. During early Summer, dark flower stems carry broad umbels of purple buds, which open to soft pink. A dramatic plant, much loved by Diggers staff, as it flowered in our trial gardens. Perfect to plant amongst feathery grasses and hazy perennials.

Actaea ‘Black Negligee’
Actaea 'Black Negligee' - Our customers report that 'Black Negligee' has much more vigor than the other dark varieties. Lacy black foliage just cloaks the lovely dark stems. Beautiful purple-tinted, white flowers project 2' upward and carry an exotic perfume of grape and jasmine. Give it lots of water with full sun in most states for the darkest foliage.
Begonia sp Pewterware
(aka: Begonia U-358) This wonderful begonia is a D. Miller collection from Malaysia, which makes it all the more surprising that it has overwintered here into the upper teens F. For us, Begonia 'Pewterware' makes an 18" tall x 18" wide rhizomatous clump of silver foliage with a wide red back. The light pink flowers are nice, but nothing compared to the great foliage. In colder climates, Begonia 'Pewterware' makes a superb houseplant or mixed container specimen.
HEAD OVER HEELS
My, my ya'll isn't this one a beauty. A gorgeous southern grand dame made livable and modern, but with an undeniable southern flair. This beautiful lowcountry plantation, from Maresca and Associates Architects, manages to stay true to its southern roots while at the same time drawing inspiration from around the world. I spy a bit of french, some shaker simplicity, a global accent or two, maybe even some New Orleans flavor. Throw in spectacular centuries old live oaks dripping with Spanish…
Hydrangea aspera ‘Plum Passion’ is a recent introduction from Dan Hinkley/Monrovia Nursery. Pinner wrote: "I was very very very excited when Dan emailed me a photo of the original cuttings he took of this selection. Now it thrives in my woodland garden in Langley.Nobody thought it would be hardy, but it sure is. The purple-tinged new foliage is a knockout ! In only two years it has reached 6′ x 6′ . It seems very happy in semi-shade and moist soil."
Loropetalum
Ever Red Loropetalum retains its dark burgundy foliage year round! Train it into a pyramidal shape this spring to spruce up the garden.
