The Icy Pit to Hell This is Gulfoss, the frozen waterfall in Iceland. Dark age theologians used to believe this was the entrance to hell, which was originally a cold place; the innermost circle of Dante's version was frozen.
Location: North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii Standing in knee deep water as this wave heaves up and over. It is so shallow, the sand is getting sucked into the wave. The sun is directly overhead at noon, which lights up the sand within the wave.
A Fog bow is formed the same way as a rainbow, but the water droplets are smaller in fog so you cannot see the colours. This ghostly arc is most commonly seen on mountains and in cold sea mists. This photo was taken on a hillside above San Francisco.
